Albert F. Misci, Sr.
November 29, 1930 – January 5, 2023
Albert F. Misci, Sr. ( Al, Poppy) Devoted, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in Wilmington, Delaware. Al was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 29, 1930 to Umberto Misci and Florence (nee Paul). He graduated from South Philadelphia High School in June 1948 and attended St. Joseph’s University evening college. He was a Veteran and served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Europe and was actually able to meet cousins on his father’s side of the family. He worked for 35+ years at Philadelphia Gas Works as a dispatch supervisor.
Al was a lifetime Phillies fan and attended many games over the 41 years that he and the family had partial season tickets. He was in Veterans Stadium on October 21, 1980 with his daughter, Joanne when the Philles won their first World Series.
Al retired in his late 50’s from Philadelphia Gas Works and focused on his love of going to Garage Sales and Flea Markets. He did this faithfully for many years until he gave it up when he was 85. He hauled his treasures up and down to the car each week and was so excited at the many treasures he found along the way.
Above all, Poppy was devoted to his family. His true love was spending time at his grandchildren’s activities. He was a permanent fixture at all Little League games, Volleyball matches, Cheerleading competitions, Choral concerts, Christmas plays, Variety Shows. Just tell him what time to be there and he was there.
He was blessed in the last five years to meet his 3 beautiful great-grandsons!
He also loved to cook and was famous for his pizzelles and his eggplant meatballs.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, John and Nicholas, his sister Lena, his infant children, Mary Misci and Andrew Joseph Misci, his wife Betty Anne Misci, and his former wife, Mary Lou Misci
He is survived by his children, Joanne Misci (Bruce Lenton) and Albert Jr. (Janice) Misci. His Grandchildren, Albie (Melanie), Alicia Kaestner (Thomas), Kyle (Liv Hubler) and Lindsey Brooke Misci. His precious great grandsons, Liam and Marlo Kaestner and Joseph (Joey) Misci. His sister’s Ann Grillo, Joan Misci, Rosemarie DiPatre.
Relatives & Friends are invited to his funeral Tuesday Jan. 10th 8:30am at St. Joseph Church 3255 Concord Road Aston. Funeral Mass 10 am, Interment will be private.
