Alice Mae Welkie née McHose

Alice Mae Welkie (née McHose), 94, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025.

Born and raised in Hazleton, PA, Alice was the beloved wife of the late David Welkie. She spent her later years in Newark, DE, living with her daughter Susan from 2012 to 2024 before residing at Juniper Village of Newark Assisted Living.

Alice is survived by five of her six children: David Welkie (wife Janet), John Welkie (wife Norah), Susan Welkie, Matthew Welkie, and Thomas Welkie. She was predeceased by her son Mark Welkie (BettyAnn) in January 2024. Alice was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to eleven. She was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, including her dear niece Louise Janiga and her brother Gordon McHose.

Alice retired as a Data Entry Supervisor at Compumark in Chesterbrook, PA, where she took great pride in her work and the friendships she formed with her colleagues.

A kind and gentle soul, Alice was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She found joy in sewing, knitting, puzzle books, and movies, and she will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, laughter, and unwavering love.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15^th Viewing 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Service 10:30 AM at DAnjolell-Barone Memorial Home, 908 S. Providence Road, Wallingford, PA 19086. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
