POMPILII Amelia Pompilii (DiTillo), Passed away peacefully after 92 active years on Feb. 8, 2013. Born and raised in Montreal Canada, Amelia embraced her Canadian education to become fluent in Italian, French and English. Growing up, Amelia played pick-up games of hockey with the neighborhood boys, often at the chagrin of her parents. In her younger years she also enjoyed skiing in the Laurentian Mountains. Amelia was an avid sports fan, always following her beloved Canadiens. She attended many baseball games of the Montreal Royals when they were the triple A farm team of the Brooklyn Dodgers. After settling in the Philadelphia area she became a true fan of all the local sports teams. Amelia married her husband Fermin Pompilii in 1954 after meeting each other at a wedding a few years before. They settled in Parkside and in 1960 Amelia became a crossing guard at the corner of Mount Vernon Avenue and Upland Road. She affectionately was known as “Mrs. Lou” to the thousands of children she served for over 52 years. “Mrs. Lou” absolutely loved her work and always said being with the kids every day kept her young. As the years passed, Mrs. Lou was meeting the grandchildren of some of the children she had served many years earlier. Amelia loved her family, and often reminisced about childhood events with her brothers and sisters. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandson. Wife of the late Fermin C.
