Angelo N. Mancini, Jr., “Chief,” age 90, of Newtown Square, PA, and formerly of Broomall and Ardmore, PA, passed away on June 13, 2026. He was surrounded by family and love in his final moments.

Angelo lived a life defined by family, friendship, optimism, and love. He grew up in Ardmore, PA, graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1952, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University in 1956. Following an early role at Boeing, he spent a distinguished 30-year career with the Department of Defense, where he led the development of several joint-service small arms and munitions programs and served on NATO committees. Even after retirement, he remained active in the field through consulting and his involvement with NDIA.

Proud of his Italian heritage, Angelo enjoyed friendships through Associazione Regionale Abruzzese Delco and Delaware Valley, the LAM Valley Forge Lodge 1776 of the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy, and the “little club” in Ardmore. Whether socializing with friends, playing cards, sharing a meal, or serving as chef in the kitchen, he treasured the sense of community these organizations provided.

Angelo loved sports and competition; he coached his children’s teams, spent hours cheering on the sidelines, and served as a PIAA football and basketball official for more than 50 years. He was still working games well into his eighties, and appreciated the friendships he made through officiating. He also enjoyed many years of golf and friendship at Llanerch Country Club.

Angelo was especially proud of the life he and his wife Rose Ann built together. Through every chapter, they were partners in raising a family, welcoming friends, celebrating milestones, and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and good food. Nothing made Angelo happier than seeing his children and grandchildren pursue their interests, achieve their goals, and build happy lives of their own. He was their biggest fan at recitals, concerts, plays, tournaments, games, graduations, and birthdays. He genuinely wanted to be part of the moments that mattered, both big and small. Whether cooking, playing cards or chess, sharing a round of golf, watching a Phillies game, or simply spending time together, Angelo treasured everyday moments with the people he loved. He especially enjoyed watching Villanova basketball and was thrilled to see his Wildcats win the national championships in 2016 and 2018. More than anything, he valued the relationships and memories created along the way.

Anyone who knew Angelo knew that he was a true character. He could strike up a conversation with almost anyone and somehow discover a shared connection within minutes. He was a great storyteller, quick to lend a hand, and generous with his time. He loved good food, celebrations, dancing, and singing along to songs, even if he got the lyrics wrong. His warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others drew people to him throughout his life. While Angelo will be greatly missed, his family takes comfort in the countless memories, laughter, and love he leaves behind, and in knowing that a part of him will live on in the many people whose lives he touched.

He was predeceased by his parents, Concordia (nee Boffa) and Angelo N. Mancini, Sr., and by his siblings and their spouses, Albert Falcone (Ida), Felix Falcone (Gloria), Philip Falcone (Jeanette), Mary Farina (David), and Eleanor Brown (Mearle).

Angelo is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Ann (nee Lipinski) Mancini; his children, Stephen, Donna Miltner (Jim), Marc (Dana), and Christine Varani (Peter); his grandchildren, Julie (Tony), Daniel (Brittany), Annalise, Tessa, and Bennett; his great-granddaughter, Noelle; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 9:00 AM at Saint Anastasia Roman Catholic Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA, 19073, followed immediately by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will take place privately at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Angelo’s memory may be made to LAM Valley Forge Lodge 1776, P.O. Box 60583, King of Prussia, PA 19406, to support their scholarship and philanthropy missions.

Dear RoseAnn, Stephen, Donna, Christine, Marc and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. Joe and I really thought that we had more time with our loving Uncle Angelo. We enjoyed so many gatherings, conversations and most of all his unwavering support until the very end. As for me, he was an Awesome Godfather, never missing one of my events to congratulate me or send prayers when needed. Joe and I can only take comfort in knowing that he is with our father going at it as siblings do and of course, reunited with all family. "3rd time is a charm" I have many memories of Uncle Angelo; it is difficult to choose just one. Caring, loving and funny are a few words I would say exemplify his persona. I am at a loss of words to describe how much I will miss him. Rest withe angels, Uncle Angelo.

In my 2nd year as a PIAA football official, I served as a Line Judge on Angelo’s crew at Norristown High School v Pottstown. I heard Angleo was hospitalized earlier in the 2021 season due to a collision with a football player. The teams needed a Referee and at the age of 86 Angelo heeded the call. It was October 30, 2021, and a sub-tropical storm/nor’easter dumped over 2.5 inches of rain on Norristown - all participants were soaked to the skin. With a calm demeanor Angelo successfully guided the teams and crew throughout the contest. It was a blessing and a privilege to step onto the field and serve under Angleo’s leadership. RIP

Rest in peace Uncle Angelo-you are the last of the “old generation” to pass on in my small family unit. I send my heartfelt sympathy to family and friends who will miss your presence in their lives.

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn our Brother Angelo Mancini. Angelo was a real individual. He was always real in the person he was, real in the family he created and real with his many friends that were honored to have shared meals, social gatherings, special events, happiness and sadness with him. Most notably to me, our many conversations about how to strengthen our organization and depict our Italian Heritage how it was meant to be. Deepest Condolences to Rose Ann and family in the loss of a great man. I knew Angelo from the Sons and Daughters of Italy. He always remembered seeing me at the Conventions and I him. Right away he wanted to carry on a conversation with you, like we just saw each other the day before. Never met the man but wish I had as the well written obituary says it all. A life well lived to the utmost that obviously touched many throughout the years. RIP Chief.

Being there to see my only hole in one. And it was the last golf outing we played in together. Also watching together; 2 Villanova Basketball Championships, 2 Eagles Superbowl victories and the Phillies World Series. And all the great meals we shared over the years. You were the best and will never be forgotten.
