It is with deep sorrow and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Carmela M. Barone, who peacefully left this world on December 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A woman of unwavering faith, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Carmela was born and raised in Overbrook, PA, where she attended and graduated from Overbrook High School. She was the cherished daughter of Philomena and Joseph, and grew up alongside her beloved sister, Marie Angiolillo. In 1956, Carmela met the love of her life, Nicholas “Nicky” Barone, and the two quickly became inseparable. They married in 1958, embarking on a lifelong journey of love and companionship. Their union brought forth four wonderful children: Nicky, Paul, Mary, and Eddie. The family home was filled with laughter, boundless energy, and a love that only grew stronger over the years. Carmela worked full time while raising her children and dedicated many years of her life to working tirelessly at Premier Orthopedics, where she had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Gordon.
The arrival of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought Carmela even more joy and fulfillment. She wholeheartedly dedicated herself to creating cherished memories with them, taking them on trips, cooking their favorite meals, and spending week-long vacations in Wildwood. Carmela was always present at their events, offering unwavering support, and she delighted in spoiling them with gifts, ensuring they had everything they could possibly desire. Her love for her grandkids knew no bounds, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Carmela was a devoted parishioner and Eucharist Minister at the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church located in Darby, PA, and later, at Saint Rose of Lima in Eddystone, PA. Throughout the years, one of Carmela’s greatest joys was her Sunday routine. She began her days with Mass, her faith guiding her every step, before dedicating hours in the kitchen to prepare a four-course meal. Without fail, dozens of family members and friends would gather around her table, where she poured out both food and love in equal measure.
Carmela’s life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and love. She had an extraordinary ability to give anything to anyone, always seeing the good in everyone she met. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and open arms, where she shared not only a roof but her heart with all who entered. She was a master of creating joyful memories, making sure that every moment spent together was filled with laughter and love.
Mommom’s legacy is one of unmatched generosity, faith, and devotion to family and friends. There will never be anyone like her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her husband, the late Nicholas A. Barone, children, Nicholas J. Barone, Paul Barone (Brenda), Mary Frances Manson (Neil), and Edward Barone (Claire), grandchildren Eddie, Angela, Stephanie, Arlene, Joseph, Amanda, Steven, Andrew, Rachael, and Olivia, eleven great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished her as their own family.
