CAROLYN GIBBONI
Carolyn GIBBONI (née Cordivari), aged 91, February 22, 1932 – July 12, 2023, passed peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Roger Gibboni, and is survived by her sister Eleanor DeFulvio, brother David Cordivari, sons Roger (Linda Dulye) and David (Adam Cusack), granddaughter Christine (Steven Bushong), grandson Roger (Kirsten Skala), and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Carolyn graduated from Overbrook High School in Philadelphia in 1950, then pursued a secretarial career at Colonial Mortgage Company, where she cultivated a circle of lifelong friends. As her children were born she became a full-time mother and homemaker and raised her family with joy and love.
She loved cooking for family and friends and fed and entertained many around her dining room table, and specialized in creating biscotti and many traditional Christmas and Easter treats for everyone around her. She supported and cheered on her sons’ endeavors in sports and theater and celebrated their academic and professional achievements.
She was active in Saint Dorothy Parish in Drexel Hill, and was a member of its Home and School Association and its women’s bowling league, of which she was a team member for several decades.
After moving to the Hershey’s Mill community in 1993, she became a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish in West Chester. She was an avid card player at Hershey’s Mill and was a familiar sight at the Hershey’s Mill Golf Club.
Carolyn and Roger spent a joyful and fulfilling retirement, enjoying the theater, opera, cruises around the world, summers in Stone Harbor, NJ, winters in Florida, and many car trips visiting family across the country.
More recently she transitioned to the Wellington independent living community and fit right into the active seniors living there.
Family and friends are invited to join a memorial of her life on Thursday, July 20, at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380. Visitation will begin at 10 am, with a funeral mass beginning at 11 am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to Saints Peter and Paul School:
