** Due to the current situation we as a family have made a very hard but realistic decision not to hold an open service for Christopher at this time. This is being done to protect all of those who loved and cared for him. Our plan is to have a celebration of life when the restrictions are lifted. We will be planning on a memorial and celebration later. Thank you for understanding.Dowling1941~2020Christopher Dowling, Sr. age 79 of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27th with his loving wife and daughter by his side. He suffered multiple strokes throughout the past seven years and went peacefully to be in heaven with his many loved ones, especially his son Christopher Dowling, Jr. who tragically passed in 2005. He is predeceased by his father Russell Dowling, mother Shirley Chominski, brother Russell Dowling and sister Wanda Griffith.Christopher was the loving husband of Micki Dowling who he married on October 14, 1963. Survived by his loving wife of 56 wonderful years, Margaret “Micki” Dowling, his beautiful daughter Michelle Apple (James), his two adoring granddaughters, Heather O’Neill and Brittany Marshall; his cherished three great grandsons, Christopher, Colton and Rhys; and many loving siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. If you knew Chris at all, you could not help but love him. As a family member, a friend, a neighbor, one of his many favorite waitstaff at his frequent local restaurants he enjoyed, or just a stranger he came across, he would go out of his way to tell a joke to. He always made sure to leave a lasting impression on everyone that he encountered. You would be hard pressed to ever find a guy as kind, and genuine as Chris was.He played a major father figure role in countless family members lives, and we are so blessed to have had him. He went out of his way to make sure that all of us would carry the memories of the many acts of kindness and good times he shared with us all throughout his years. One of the many things he prided himself on was his time in the military. Christopher served as a Sharpshooter for the Marines and had been stationed all over the world. He spoke 7 different languages, and had a brilliant mind. During his later years he enjoyed performing Magic Tricks and was always busy updating his inventory of jokes to tell us all. He has shaped my entire life as well as countless others, and as much I am mourning him right now, I know that I am by far not the only one.Sadly, the rest of his many loving family members were unable to be by his side due to restrictions concerning COVID 19. We will be having a large memorials service to be held at a later date knowing that many people unfortunately may not be able to attend the services. The memorial we plan to have will give us the time to organize something perfect for Chris. Written by Heather O’NeillArr: Danjolell-Barone Memorial Home
