Clifford W. Bond, lifetime resident of Malvern Borough, changed his address to Heaven on Sunday evening, Sept. 14, 2014. Cliff was born September 7, 1935 to Guy and Marguerite Mosteller Bond and resided in the house of his birth his entire life.
He was educated at Malvern Public School/Junior High and graduated from T-E High School in 1953. He joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany in the mid-1950s. Upon his return to the states, Cliff became a service techncian for Staats Oil Company of Malvern through the Millennium Year 2000. He then drove school buses for special needs children until health issues forced him into permanent retirement in 2012.
Cliff was a quiet, gentle man with a love of dogs and the outdoors. From the early 1950s through 2013, he especially relished weekends and vacations filled with boating, fishing, crabbing and hanging out at the beloved Bond family shore house on the Indian River in Oak Orchard, DE. Cliff traveled through New England, Pennsylvania, New York, southern coastal states and Canada with his family and friends, taking part in camping, walking and observing nature’s beauty.
A man of few words, Cliff would often interject with an unexpected quip or humorous anecdote into a conversation, catching observers off guard with his wry humor. He was an avid reader and huge fan of PBS and the History Channel. Cliff was always tinkering with things around the house and the shore home – a man who saw his duty and went ahead and did it in his own skilled and simple way. He was a loyal friend, a good listener and a humble soul.
Cliff and his wife, Kathleen Salotti Bond of Milmont Park, PA were married for 41 years. He is survived by Kathy; daughters, Andrea L. Reiss and Karen C. Reiss Braccia, one grandchild; a special cousin, Sue Clements; and his brother’s family. In addition to his parents, Cliff was predeceased by his brother, Lester Bond and a sister who died in infancy.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #646 in Paoli and the Odd Fellows Lodge in Malvern. He was a Methodist by faith.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Cliff’s life on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 1 to 4 PM at the Desmond Hotel, 1 Liberty Blvd., Wayne, PA 19355.
