DIBATTISTA
Dorine A., (nee DeVita),
On the morning of August 5, 2024, the world lost a beautiful soul as Dorine A., (nee DeVita) DiBattista of Springfield, PA, was welcomed into heaven, just days after celebrating her 72nd birthday surrounded by her beloved family. Dorine was the epitome of love, devotion, and selflessness, a woman who touched the lives of everyone she encountered with her warm, kind spirit.
Predeceased by her parents, Arlene (nee Jeneskie) and James DeVita, and her sister, Donna Doughty. She is survived by her husband, John F. DiBattista, her two children, James DiBattista (Nichola), and Andrea Colleluori (Pasquale), her five grandchildren, James, Christopher, Ava, Logan and Tyler, and her great granddaughter Carly Rose.
Dorine was the kind of person who made you feel truly seen, heard, and valued. She had a remarkable gift for listening—never seeking the spotlight, yet always shining brightly in the lives of those around her. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and support, a beacon of light in a world that often feels so dark. She gave generously of her time, making everyone feel welcome and cared for, with a heart as expansive as the skies over the places she so loved to visit. She loved the Philadelphia Flower Show, Peddler’s Village as well as the towns of Media and Swarthmore.
Dorine shared an extraordinary bond with her devoted husband, John, with whom she celebrated 49 wonderful years of marriage. Their relationship was a testament to enduring love and partnership, marked by countless adventures and cherished moments. Whether exploring the rugged beauty of Alaska or savoring the serene shores of Cape May, NJ.
Born and raised in West Philadelphia (Overbrook), Dorine was a proud graduate of Overbrook High School. She spent her youth reveling in the vibrant energy of 69th Street including dances at Chez Vous in Upper Darby. After high school, she began her professional journey as a hairstylist, before transitioning to roles with several companies, most notably The Equitable and Manulife. It was here that Dorine made meaningful friendships with her co-workers, bonds that would stand the test of time.
Above all, Dorine was a loving and compassionate mother to her son, James, and daughter, Andrea. She was a doting grandmother to five beautiful grandchildren: James, Christopher, Ava, Logan, and Tyler, and an adoring great-grandmother to Carly Rose. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she found immense joy in cooking, traveling, reading, knitting, crocheting and countless other hobbies that filled her life with color and meaning.
Dorine’s relationship with her children, James and Andrea, was nothing short of extraordinary. With James, Dorine shared a bond that transcended the ordinary. He was not only her son but her hero, the one who gave her the incredible gift of life when he donated a kidney to her in 2009. This act of love and sacrifice deepened their connection, creating a bond that words could never fully capture. They shared a mutual respect and understanding that was evident in every moment they spent together, from the simplest conversations to the most profound life experiences.
Andrea, her beloved daughter, was her confidante and best friend. Dorine reveled in Andrea’s achievements, supported her every endeavor, and was always there with a warm embrace and a kind word. The love they shared was a testament to the strength and beauty of the mother-daughter bond, one that will endure forever in Andrea’s heart.
Dorine DiBattista played many roles in her life—daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend—but none more important than that of a caregiver. She cared for her late mother, her grandchildren, and anyone who needed her, always giving of herself without hesitation. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 12 NOON – 1:15 PM followed by her Memorial Service at 1:30 PM in the Main Chapel at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Inurnment Private.
