Dr. Daniel J. Belmondo

BELMONDO Dr. Daniel J. Belmondo, of Wynnewood, PA, passed away on September 2, 2017 after a short battle with cancer at the age of 71. Dan was born and raised in Brocton, NY. where he developed a passion for music. He earned his undergraduate degree from Fredonia State University before being drafted into the Vietnam War, where he and his infantry company were often involved in harrowing combat. After returning home as a decorated veteran, he taught choral music at Clarence Jr. High School where he met his wife Mary. He went on to teach at Depew High School and Williamsville East High School, in addition to earning his Master’s Degree from the University of Buffalo. Dan, Mary, and their son Michael moved to the Philadelphia area for Dan to pursue and earn his PhD from Temple University. While in the Philadelphia area, Dan conducted the Norristown Community Chorale for 17 years. Additionally, he taught at Eisenhower Middle School in Norristown, PA and then at Lower Merion High School, from where he retired in 2010. Dan enjoyed playing classical piano and was deeply devoted to sharing his love of music. His work and professional accomplishments will live on in the thousands of students that he taught and inspired throughout the years. Dan and Mary loved to travel to the NJ shore, as well as Switzerland, Italy (for visits with his father’s family), and Florida. Dan will be remembered as a compassionate and loving husband, father, and member of the musical community. He loved people and asked for nothing in return. His presence and personality were larger than life. He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen (Tederous) Belmondo; son Michael Belmondo and his wife, Margaret; mother Rita (Rosso) Belmondo; sister Sylvia Fenner, wife of the late Wickham; and brothers David Belmondo and his wife, Leslie; and Douglas Belmondo and his wife, Karen. He was the son of the late Silvio Belmondo. Relatives and Friends may attend a visitation on Friday 11:30 AM to 2 PM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Memorial donations can be made in Dan’s memory to Lankenau Medical Center Foundation.
