SMITH
E. Hadden, age 95, on May 8, 2023, of Newtown Square, PA.
Predeceased by his son Kevin Scott Smith, and his sister, Dolores (the late Don) Barnum.
Survived by his wife, Roberta C. (nee Rensch), and his sons, Hadden Robert Smith (Janice), Warren Leigh Smith (Brenda), and daughter-in-law Lois Smith. Along with his 11 grandchildren- Stephen Smith (Heidi), Lauren Kotulka (Justin), Tim Smith (Jacqui), Bonnie Fanelli (Tom), Amy Wrede (Philip), Michael Smith, Sara Coffin (Justin), TerriAnne Curtis (Andrew), Kate Baer (Zachary), Walker Smith, and Heather Bond (Nathan) and 11 great-grandchildren – Bradley and Whitney Kotulka, Forest Baer, River and Margo Smith, Mason and Charlotte Curtis, Sadie and Jace Coffin, Wesley Bond and Owen Fanelli.
Hadden spent his life serving others. A graduate of Drexel University with a BS degree in engineering, he was a 2nd Lt. in the US Air Force serving as a nuclear officer from 1950-1954 in CA and NM. Upon returning to PA, he worked as an electrical engineer for Westinghouse before launching a recreational vehicle sales and service business which served the Delaware County community for over 58 years.
Most important in his life was his service to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was an active and life-long member of Crossroads Community Church (formerly J. R. Miller Presbyterian Church) in Upper Darby, PA. Hadden served as an Elder in the church, taught Sunday School and the young members class and was an enthusiastic participant in the evangelistic outreach program. In addition, Hadden was a member of Gideons International serving in the Philadelphia West camp since 1970. His love for travel partnered well with his passion for sharing the Gospel allowing him to distribute Gideon Bibles and New Testaments all around the world.
Hadden leaves a legacy of faithful service to his sons and the generations that will follow.
Relatives & friends are invited to celebrate his life at his Memorial Service on June 10th at 10:30am at Crossroads Community Church 104 Heather Rd, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Inurnment Private.
