Most people know Florence as Babe, a nickname given to her by a family member. She was the third of seven children in a typical Italian family that thrived on lively, Sunday gatherings and great Italian food. She loved singing and often sang on the radio at the Cathay Tea Garden Restaurant in Philadelphia, a popular, Center City landmark for many years. She met her husband, Dave, at the Philadelphia Navy Yard where she worked. They had five children together and eventually had seven grandchildren and 5 great-grand children. For 34 years, March 13th was a very sad day for Babe as this was the day that her daughter, Deborah, was tragically taken away from her and this world. It gives the family peace to know that Babe passed away on the anniversary of Deborah’s death and we feel comfort that she was reunited with her beloved daughter and other family and friends that predeceased her.Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Saturday morning 8:00-10:00 AM at The D’Anjolell Memorial Home 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008 and Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Kevin’s Church, Springfield, PA. Interment S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Florence’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St., Phila., PA 19140.
