Age 66, of Hockessin, DE (formerly of Overbrook, PA and Upper Darby, PA) January 7, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank (Frankie) F. Cipolla, age 66, on January 7, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Frankie was a longtime resident of the Philadelphia area before moving to Newark, DE in 1997. He spent many years living in Overbrook and Upper Darby, where he formed lasting friendships and became an integral part of his community.
Frankie was a proud graduate of Don Guanella School for Boys and was known for his love of sports, especially baseball. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and whether watching, or discussing it, he always found joy in sharing his passion with others.
In his younger years, he spent his days working odd jobs around the neighborhood, always ready to lend a helping hand—whether washing cars, running errands, or lending his support at Orlando’s Bakery, he found camaraderie and joy and built friendships that lasted a lifetime.
In 1988, Frankie faced a traumatic burn injury that almost took his life. His recovery from this life-changing event was nothing short of remarkable, and while it left lasting physical challenges, Frankie’s strength and determination carried him through. The injury later led to liver complications that affected his health, eventually taking his life, but Frankie’s resilience never wavered. He continued to approach life with the same strength and humor that defined him.
Throughout his life, Frankie faced additional challenges, including the loss of his father, mother and sister; yet, he continued to navigate life with strength, showing a remarkable ability to endure, despite the heartbreak. Through it all, Frankie’s unwavering spirit remained a testament to his courage and his deep love for those around him.
Frankie had a knack for making everyone feel like family. He was a friend to all, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Frankie is survived by his brother-in-law Anthony, sister Maria, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
