Frederick A. Eckert “Rick” age 86 passed away on July 30, 2024. He resided in Upper Chichester previously of Southwest Philadelphia,
He is a US Navy Veteran and served aboard the USS Kretchmer. After his service he worked for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard Department of Defense Combat Division and then the VSE Corporation as a project manager.
Rick was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and always had a story to tell of his adventures. What he loved most was his role as a Pop Pop and Opa. He was a Past Great Sachem and longtime member of The Improved Order of Red Men Crow Tribe 423.
Rick was a loving husband of 53 years of the late Helen “Sally” Eckert. He was the son of the late Herman & Emily Eckert, brother of the late Richard Eckert.
The loving father of Karen (Ronald) Zulli also survived by his cherished grandchildren Nicole (Pat) Strickler, Kristen Zulli, great grandchildren Oliver and Adrian Strickler, his sister-in-law Jane McMonagle, dear friend Ursula Tracy, caregiver and friend Marie Piotti and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives & Friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday August 6th from 9:30 to 10:45 AM, at the Danjolell – Stigale Memorial Home 3260 Concord Road Aston. Services will be held at 11:00 am in our main chapel. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in Rick’s name can be made to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity of your choice.
