Gerald (Jerry) Augustine DiCaprio, 73, passed away on Sunday November 6th after a 7 year valiant battle with renal cell carcinoma.Jerry was born in September of 1943 at St. Agnes hospital on Broad Street in Philadelphia. He spent the first fourteen years of his life residing on 59th Street in West Philadelphia until his family moved to Havertown in December of 1958. He worked for Delaware County Professional Services for 25 years and retired as Chief Financial Officer.Jerry was a devout family man and loyal friend to the core. He was a passionate boxing fan and has been involved with the Philadelphia boxing circuit for over 50 years. He loved animals and in particular had a deep affection for Siberian Huskies, raising six of them throughout his life, as well as many other pets. Jerry was also a man of many hobbies, including chess, fishing, carpentry, and often prided himself on his wood making projects. He played piano ever since he was a youngster, and he loved Doo Wop and the Italian Opera.Among Jerry’s many endearing qualities, his exuberant sense of humor and charisma were among his most cherished. His magnetic personality led him to enjoy dear friendships from all angles of his life. He was one in a million and will be forever missed and eternally cherished by those that had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Lynne (nee Borbidge) DiCaprio, sons John, Jeff and Danny, brother Richard, 7 grandchildren, and countless others who adored him.Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Friday, 7-9 PM and Saturday, 9:9:45 AM at the Danjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.
