Helen (nee Jurbala) age 97, of Havertown, PA, November 25, 2025

Helen was born and raised in South Philadelphia, a place and time she greatly appreciated. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls. Helen worked for Abbott’s Ice Cream and later as a bookkeeper at a bank. She enjoyed cooking and baking, particularly during the holidays when she would prepare traditional meals and treats. Her cookies and breads, using recipes handed down from her mother, were delicious.

Upon moving into a brand new home in Havertown in 1963, a daily walk to Manoa Shopping Center became a central part of her day, making sure to be home in time to watch her favorite TV show, General Hospital. Having never obtained a driver’s license, Helen was nonetheless able to travel to her appointments and shopping trips using SEPTA. She liked to garden, work in and around the home, a home in which she took great pride.

Helen adored her family and delighted in sharing her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s photos and videos with family and friends. Being Gigi to her grandchildren and her four great granddaughters brought her the most joy.

Predeceased by her husband George Homa, Sr., her daughter, Barbara Ann Doe and her parents, Anna (nee Pirnik) and Michael Jurbala.

Survived by her son, George Homa, Jr., her grandchildren Kimberly Lawson and Matthew Doe (Kate), her great grandchildren Lauren, Lillian, Lexi (Kimberly), Lydia (Matthew) and her son-in-law Daniel C. Doe, Lt. Colonel, USA, Ret.

Relatives and friends are invited to Helen’s Viewing on Thursday, December 4th, 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the Main Chapel at D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment to follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
