Ingeborg B. Ryan nee Schmid of West Chester, PA, formerly of Broomall, PA, died on October 2, 2008.
She was born in Nurnburg, Germany on June 23, 1925 and sailed to the U.S. at the age of 1, with her parents, Gustave and Mia Schmid, where she resided in Philadelphia. She attended Girls High and was a former member of the United Service Club.
She met and married her loving husband, William J. Ryan, Jr. Esq., now deceased. She resided in Delaware County and was a member of St. Pius X Church.
Primarily a homemaker with a brief interval at QVC and then at St. Dorothy’s Rectory in Drexel Hill.
She loved her dogs, feeding her birds and trying to outwit the squirrels from her bird feeder; also loved gardening, cooking, sewing and going to the shore at Townsends Inlet, NJ. Loved reading, shopping on QVC and watching her favotite soaps each afternoon. Her favorite phrase was “Don’t Worry About It, or DWAI”.
She was the beloved wife of the late William J., Esq. and loving mother of Christine Sica of Havertown, Deborah and her husband, Tony Salvucci of Drexel Hill, and Vicky and her husband, Elmo Davis of Downingtown. She was also the loving “Grammie” of 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and another on the way.
The family wishes to thank all who cared for Inge over the past four years and especially the staff at Bryn Mawr Hospital and the staff at the Neighborhood Hospice Unit in West Chester for their compassion, care and sensitivity to her and her family members, and for the dignity they provided and the comfort they assured her during her final days and hours.
