GLADSTONE
Irene “Renee” (nee Flynn) on May 13, 2023 of Newtown Square, originally of Harrisburg.
Daughter of the late Dorothy (Bushek) and Edward V. Flynn and sister of the late John Cajetan Flynn and Dorothy Hart.
Survived by her husband of 51 yrs. Julian, M.D., her sons Jason (Maria Windell), Eric (Rhyannon Spangler), her daughter Alexandra, and her grandchildren Zinnia and Juniper.
Irene graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Lancaster, PA, and worked for many years as a head nurse at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and then as a nurse for the City of Philadelphia. Her caring nature was remarkable and pervasive, and she will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to spend time with her. She adored animals, especially all of the dogs she had over the course of her lifetime. Flowers were a source of joy for her, and her garden was and is a special place, full of bright colors and enticing smells.
Irene also had a life-long love of literature and instilled a sense of intellectual curiosity in her children. More than anything Irene loved her family, whom she was always proud of, whom she relished spending time with, and to whom she imbued the wisdom that love and kindness are the most important elements of life.
Relatives & Friends are invited to her Viewing on Wednesday May 17th; 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. ALL IN CHURCH at St. John Neumann Church 380 Highland Ln, Bryn Mawr PA 19010. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
