Yankauskas, James J., “Yank”, age 70, of Broomall, PA, formerly of Southwest Philadelphia and Overbrook, on June 8, 2017, at Crozer-Keystone Hospice.Jim was a United States Marine who served in Vietnam and a retired Philadelphia Police Officer. He served his country and his city during extremely difficult times to do so and never lost his love for either, nor his sense of humor. Yank was a world-class shuffleboard player and tireless teacher and promoter of the sport, as well as the first inductee to the PA State Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. Yank enjoyed passing his love of shuffleboard on to others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, and a good friend to many. It was always a pleasure to be in his company.Jim is survived by his wife Rita F. (Napoli) Yankauskas, daughters Gail M. Goode (Edward) and Jean A. Pizzi (Michael), son James D. Yankauskas (Apryl Pierce); grandchildren Teddy and Grace Goode, and Hailee Pierce; sisters Kathryn Sheehan, Mary Legner (Lawrence) and Christine Young-Mendicino (Stephen Komar); and many nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends may attend Yank’s funeral on Thursday, June 15, 2017, 11:00AM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Funeral service will follow at 1:00PM. Interment private.
