PASTORE
James, L. “Jamie” age 62, on September 15, 2022, of Upper Providence, PA.
“Marvel or DC?” If you ever spoke with Jamie Pastore, you are certainly familiar with this question. Growing up as a child, Jamie devoured every comic book he could get his hands on at the time. From batman, to spiderman to X-men, a passion was sparked. Little did he know, this childhood delight would spark into a lifelong passion- a passion he loved to share with his children. There were few things that made Jamie as happy as taking his daughter and son to the movies to see some of his favorite superheroes come to life on the big screen.
When he was not spending time in Gotham City or Peter Parker’s science class, you could always find Jamie walking around at either sports card shows or flea markets. He always had his calendar marked for these events, and as far as he was concerned, no distance was too great to travel to them. Although, he was never alone on these adventures, because he always had his best friend right by his side- his wife. Jamie’s hobbies were a big part of his life, but his wife was a big part of him.
If you listen closely, you can still hear him cheering from his basement recliner, as his favorite teams played on television. As a child of Overbrook, Jamie loved his Philadelphia sports teams- the Philadelphia Phillies, Seventy-Sixers, and of course, the Flyers. However, there was one exception to his fierce Philadelphia sports loyalty- the Minnesota Vikings. Jamie bled purple and yellow. His wardrobe was colored with various Vikings t-shirts, sweatshirts, Jerseys, and hats, and he wore it all with a great pride. He always made sure to watch his team play and rooted for them with gusto.
you could always find him in the kitchen, whipping up something delicious for his loved ones. Cooking was a part of who Jamie was at his core, and the kitchen was his sanctuary. He was always excited to test out new recipes, and often enjoyed watching cooking shows for new ideas. Jamie was never afraid of a challenge in the kitchen, but he also always had his timeless recipes up his sleeve. Close your eyes. I bet you can still smell his Sunday gravy simmering on the stove top. Or perhaps you can still taste his delicately sweet cream puffs. Jamie’s cooking was a gift that he continuously gave to all those that he loved.
To know Jamie was to know love. It was always very evident how deeply he cared for and loved his family. He is the true definition of a family man. Whenever he spent time with his grandson, he would beam with a joy few have the privilege to experience. Jamie was such a bright, beautiful light in this world, and now he shines down upon us for always, as one of the most magnificent stars in the sky.
Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is Jamie.
