Jesse was born and raised in Havertown, PA. He attended Annunciation BVM and graduated from West Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was the son of a Barber and followed in his father’s footsteps at the Varricchio Barber Shop on Darby Road in Havertown, which his father originally opened in 1922. Jesse married the love of his life, Sarita. on October 29, 1962 and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He enjoyed spending time with his family, eating Italian food and always having a glass of Chianti with dinner. He especially loved going to the beach in Brigantine, NJ and taking long walks. He made many friends over the years at the barber shop and would often make house calls to give haircuts and shaves to his customers who were no longer able to come to the shop. In August of 1957 Jesse was one of the original dancers on American Bandstand in Philadelphia hosted by Bob Horn. His favorite pastimes were baseball and football. He enjoyed going to Veteran’s Stadium and Citizen’s Bank Park to watch the Phillies. He knew all the Phillies’ players and their stats. Sunday was his day to watch the Eagles.
