Jesse G. Landi of Newtown Square, PA, died on August 20, 2006, at Bryn Mawr Hospital, at age 84.
Born in South Philadelphia, Mr. Landi resided in Newtown Square and had previously been a resident of Upper Darby for 56 years.
He was in the Navy during WWII and served for three years on the USS Nestor in the Pacific.
For 42 years, he worked as a maintenance engineer at Westinghouse Electric and retired at the age of 62.
He belonged to St. Laurence Church in Upper Darby for 56 years. He was an active member of the Laurentians and served in variuous capacities. Most recently, he chaired the Trip and Tours Committee where he organized many popular outings for the club.
Since 1966, he played a key role with the Monsignor Bonner Father’s Club. During his 40 years of involvement, he helped raise money that made it possible for the school to grow, and to raise scholarship funds for students.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Connie R. Sammartino Landi; a sister, Tina Landi; a brother, John Landi; a daughter, Carol Jim Nee of West Chester; and son, Dennis Cindy Landi of Newtown Square; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late John and Lucy nee Caggiano Landi.
