Joan Sheehan-Hanlon
(née Murphy)
Joan passed away on August 9, 2022 at her home in Aston surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Phila.,PA. She is a graduate of West Catholic High School. Joan was the daughter of Mary Donahue Murphy and Phillip Murphy who immigrated from Ireland.
Joan was very active in her community. She volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over 25 yrs eventually becoming Treasurer/President. She also volunteer for the Aston Lioness Club for many years and the Aston Seniors Club. Joan was a waitress at the Erin Pub in her younger years for over 20 yrs.
Joan also enjoyed the beach, fishing, crabbing, reading, music, dancing (excellent Irish dancer since childhood). She loved crocheting and making blankets for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
Joan was known for her love of life and family. She will be remembered by her children for all the hard work and sacrifices she made for them. she was a big lover of dogs. Her Bonnie and Bentley predeceased her, and she left her Puppy Blake who she loved so much
We will all miss her dearly.
Joan is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years Hugh John Hanlon. She is also predeceased recently by her loving son Kevin M. Sheehan. Sister of the late Phillip (Sonny) Murphy and Francis (Buddy) Murphy.
Joan is survived by six loving children, daughter Joan Sheehan of Media, Frank (Sue) Sheehan of Boothwyn, Kenneth Sheehan of Glenolden, Robyn Schlosbon of Boothwyn, Margaret (Ray) DelFera of Brookhaven, Doreen Sheehan of Aston, and stepson John (Herm) Hanlon of New Jersey. Also survived by her several Grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation is 8.30- 9:45 am at St Joseph’s Church on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, Mass will follow at 10 am Burial at St Peter and Paul’s Cemetary
