Joanne Marie Cahill

CAHILL

Joanne Marie (nee Kazmar), age 90, passed away on September 4, 2025. She was a longtime resident of Havertown, PA and formerly of the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia.

Predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Cahill, her parents, Anna (nee Kret) and Stephen Kazmar, and her sister, Mary Laufer (the late John).

Survived by her loving children, Joseph A. III (Elaine), Susan Marie Millhorn (Timothy), Kathryn Ann D’Ancona (Gabriel), and Stephen F. (Sara). Additionally, she is survived by eight beloved grandchildren and missed by many nieces and nephews.

Joanne graduated from Hallahan High School (class of ’52), then Immaculata College with a BS in Chemistry (’56). Joanne enjoyed singing in church choirs from an early age, first in the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, and then she served 50 years in the Sacred Heart Choir. Joanne started her career in research chemistry. After having children, she worked in sales for 20+ years in the children’s department at Weinberg’s. Once her children were grown, she pursued her second passion, books, by starting a new career at the Haverford Township Free Library, working at the circulation desk. She also enjoyed counted cross stitch and crocheting with the Church Shawl Ministry.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday, September 10th from 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM both to be held at Sacred Heart Church Manoa, 105 Wilson Ave., Havertown, PA 19083. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
