Joesph J. “Joe,” age 77, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, of Newtown Square, PA and Sea Isle City, NJ. Formerly of Drexel Hill, PA.
Joe was an Alumni of St. Thomas More, longtime employee of Philadelphia Electric and a bartender at Kix. He proudly served in the US Marines.
Predeceased by his parents, Margaret “Fran” (nee Furey) and Joseph J. Rush.
Survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Pat” (nee Simcox) and his devoted children, Joseph J. “Jay” (Myra), Michael (Meghan), and Jennifer Frascone (Michael). Proud Poppy to his 8 grandchildren, Juliana, Ian, Lauren, Emily, James, Michael, Zachary, and Olivia. Also survived by his sisters, Carroll Daly (Don), Barbara McDonnell (Dave), and his twin, Linda Sontowski (John).
Joe was born and raised in West Philadelphia. His home away from home was hanging in his garage in Drexel Hill sharing Rolling Rocks with his friends. He enjoyed many happy years on 66th Street in Sea Isle City. He loved fishing, reading, bartending and spending time with his friends at the VFW. He will always be remembered for his jokes and sense of humor.
Joe loved having his grandchildren around him, they were his “pride and joy.” He never gave up. A true fighter who battled so long and hard. God Bless him and may you rest in peace, Joe. We all love you XXOO.
Relatives & Friends are invited to His Viewing on Friday morning, February 3rd at 10:00am followed by His Funeral Mass at 11:00am. ALL IN CHURCH at St. Dorothy’s Church 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Interment St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown, PA.
