Watch Video TributeJoseph Jude McCloskey died peacefully at home with family by his side on March 14, 2017. He was born on February 3, 1954 to Michael and Rosalie McCloskey. He graduated from Monsignor Bonnor HS in 1972. He joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Tustin, California for several years. After honorable discharge from the Marine Corps he attended the FAA Academy in Oklahoma and worked as an Air Traffic Controller at BWI until the 1981 Air Traffic Controller Strike. Following the strike he worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard as a Plastic Fabricator. Most recently he worked for Darby Borough.Joseph coached for the Colywn Comets and Darby Little League for many years. He also coached for other teams throughout Delaware County including St. Gabes and Ridley. He loved to plan family vacations and spent many summers in upstate New York. He loved to fish but mostly loved having all of his children together on a boat searching for the ever elusive big catch. Most recently he enjoyed summers at his trailer with his companion, Bella at the Resorts Country Club Campground outside of Sea Isle, NJ. He was also a proud “Cheer Dad” for Kedron Cheerleading.Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 25 yrs. Angel McCloskey and his children, Misty McCloskey, Shaun McCloskey, Christopher McCloskey, Joseph Masters, Alexander McCloskey and Angela McCloskey. Joseph is also survived by his granddaughter, Ellie Masters.Joseph is also survived by his siblings, Patrick McCloskey (Kathleen), Miriam “Mimi” Bevan (John), Maureen “Babes” Sidor. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Judith O’Bierne, Michael McCloskey and Rosemary Sullivan. Relatives and Friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday Evening 6-9 PM at the Danjolell Barone Memorial Home 908 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford, PA 19086 and Wednesday Morning 9:30 AM at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, BVM, 1101 Main St. Darby, PA 19023 followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Private.
