Joseph Matthew Paolino, III, of Broomall, PA and Ocean City, NJ, born in Southwest Philadelphia in 1952, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2025 with his wife of 51 years, and high school sweetheart, Donna M. Paolino (nee Small), by his side. In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by his five children Danielle (Brett) Wolski, Gina (Matt) Crehan, Nicole (Joe) Eckelkamp, Joseph M. Paolino, Jr. (Tiffany) and Donna (Mike) Collins; also, his 14 grandchildren, Madison, Brett, Ava, Matthew, Liam, Joey, Jack, Emma, Joey, Frankie, Nicholas, Sophia, Michael and William; his brothers, Louis D. Paolino, Jr., Dr. Robert Paolino, Guy Paolino, Matthew Paolino; and his many nieces and nephews to who he was undoubtedly their favorite Uncle.
As a teenager he started in his family’s construction business, Joseph Paolino & Sons, skillfully operating heavy equipment and instinctively mastering the design build for roadways and major heavy highway infrastructure projects including the Walt Whitman Bridge and Philadelphia Airport. But what he enjoyed most was getting to work side by side with his grandfather and father.
He carried on that tradition, opening several of his own construction firms, working everyday side by side with his own son, Joey, and his daughters, Donna and Gina. Together, they worked on the restoration of several local parks in their community, including Veterans Memorial Park and Haverford Reserve Park, where his grandkids still enjoy playing today.
Despite his business success, his first priority was always his family, dropping everything to get home. He loved his grandkids and was always quick to spoil them. His shore house was one of his favorite places because he could have all his kids and grandkids under one roof. He loved his quiet evening boat rides with his wife and sitting on the dock together.
Joe was liked by all and admired by many. He always had a smile on his face and usually an expensive cigar hanging out of his mouth, with a few more in his pocket to share. His humor was infectious, and his car collection was legendary. Yet, easily overshadowed by his never-ending generosity instilled in him by his mother.
Joe deeply cared for his parents, Louis D. Paolino, Sr. and Nancy Paolino (nee Del Vecchio), and his sister Lisa Paolino, who preceded him in death, and is surely rejoicing in joining them in Heaven.
