Joseph McDade

Joseph J. McDade, age 92, of Glenolden passed away on October 17, 2024. He was a veteran of the Korean War and worked for General Electric in Southwest Philadelphia for 43 years, retiring as a supervisor in the Switchgear Division. Joe was a committed Christian and he worked in various church ministries. He loved spending time with his family and he put the needs of others before his own. Joe enjoyed reading, watching Philadelphia sports teams, and going on road trips,

He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mary (nee Faustino), son-in-law Richard Schlecht, and brothers, Robert (Dolores), Thomas and John McDade.

Joe is the loving father of Lynn M. Schlecht, Joseph F., Mark S., John M. and Stephen M. McDade and the cherished grandfather of Alyssa and Zachary Schlecht. He’s also survived by brother James McDade (Rosemarie), sister Cathleen Ryan (Michael) and sister-in-law, Flossie McDade.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral, Saturday, October 26 from 9 – 10:45 AM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall with a service celebrating Joe’s life immediately following in the Main Chapel. Interment will be at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
