Karin Ute McGonigal

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Karin McGonigal (nee Weichern) of Aston, PA, a loving mother, grandmother and friend, at age 84 on June 17, 2023, surrounded by her family. Karin was predeceased by her mother (Hedwig Mallasch) and her beloved husband John (“Hooch”), whom she met while he was stationed with the US Air Force in her hometown of Bremerhaven, Germany. Karin and John settled in Chester and then Aston. Karin is survived by her children, Cathy Pulos (Nick), Maryrose Hall (Mike), John McGonigal, Jr (Lisa) and Joann Doyle (Jim) and her grandchildren Donny, Lexie, Johnny, Catherine, Jimmy (Katie), Joseph, Nicky, Katie, and Olivia. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Karin was a loving and generous mother; her family will miss her tremendously. She treasured her grandchildren, who called her “Omi.” Because of her ability to make new friends feel welcomed and loved, many adults affectionately called her Omi as well. She enjoyed traveling, especially returning to Germany, going to the beach and spending time with family. She worked for Concord Country Club for over 40 years, retiring in 2019 when she became ill. Karin quietly endured her physical ailments without complaint, always saying she was just fine! May we all live with such strength, positivity, quiet dignity, and grace.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Wednesday morning, June 21st 9:15 – 10:45 am at St. John Chrysostom Church 615 S. Providence Road, Wallingford, PA 19086, Funeral Mass will be at 11am. Interment at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
