Kathleen Manning nee Kavanaugh

Kathleen Manning (nee Kavanaugh), age 85, formerly of Yardley and Newtown Square, PA, and Hilton Head, SC, on January 2, 2025. Beloved wife of 53 years of the late Thomas Manning; devoted mother of Sherry Bowman, Tom Manning, and Kathy Manning (John Zehmer); loving grandmother of Michael, Katharine, Clare, and Caroline Bowman and Lilly, Grace, and Aidan Manning. Kathleen was born in Philadelphia to Jack and Lena (McNulty) Kavanaugh, both originally from Ireland. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jack. Kathleen, known to her childhood friends as Kate, graduated from West Catholic Girls High School, and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Immaculata College as the first in her immediate family to attend college. She was a Social Worker for the City of Philadelphia prior to raising children, and later worked her way up from a temporary position at Educational Testing Service to a leadership role in which she helped create the computerized version of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Kathleen resided in Yardley, PA for more than 20 years before retiring to Hilton Head, SC in 2002. She had been living in Texas near her daughter Sherry since 2018. Kathleen was an avid traveler, loved to learn and laugh, and always put others before herself.  She will be deeply missed by her friends and most especially her family, for the indelible mark she has left in their hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Monday, January 20th, 9:30 – 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM ALL IN CHURCH at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Interment Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
