Lucretia Murphy of Springfield, PA, a beloved grandmother, devoted wife, loving mother, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by her family.
Lucretia was born on June 29, 1957, in Philadelphia, PA, to Thomas and Dorothy Canfield. She graduated from Merion Mercy Academy in Merion Station, PA, in 1975. On September 18, 2006, she married Dennis Murphy after 18 cherished years together. For 36 beautiful years, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family.
A lifelong enthusiast of health and fitness, Lucretia began as a certified personal trainer at LA Fitness before realizing her dream of owning Second Wind Fitness, a welcoming gym for the entire Delaware County community. There, she inspired people of all ages to embrace the joy of staying active and healthy. She was also a dedicated advocate for children with learning disabilities. As Head of the PTA at Stratford Friends School, she chaired their annual auction fundraiser for several years. Her advocacy was deeply personal, as she and Dennis played a key role in supporting a loved one with special needs.
Lucretia was cherished for her unwavering love for her children, her joy in watching her grandchildren grow, and her strength, warmth, and sense of humor. She also took great joy in caring for her dogs Buddy, Chico, and Gus.
Lucretia is survived by her loving husband, Dennis; her brother, Anthony Canale (Denise); her children, Felicia Robbins (Jeffrey), Tiffany Miccoli, and Laura Murphy Garcia (Joshua); her grandchildren, Victoria Clark, Zachary Robbins, and Samantha Robbins; her many nieces and nephews; and many other cherished relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Givigliano.
Lucretia will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she showed through life’s challenges, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Lucretia’s life will take place on Friday, June 13, at D’Anjollel Memorial Home of Broomall from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. Francis of Assisi in Springfield at 11:30 a.m. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to attend and honor her memory. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
