Malcolm V. Wise

Malcolm V., age 89, on December 31, 2024. Born June 18, 1935, Malcolm was raised in Havertown, PA and graduated Haverford H.S. in 1953. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958, where he was stationed in Butzbach, Germany.

Malcolm will be deeply missed by his devoted daughter, Karen M. Paoli (John), his 4 nieces,4 nephews, and sisters-in-laws, Shirley Wise & Angela Schmieder (Werner). Malcolm is predeceased by his loving parents, Margaret E. (nee Sharpe) & Malcolm R. Wise, his beloved wife, Marlise (nee Wagner) and dear siblings David A. Wise and Helen G. Wylie (the late Robert) and niece Lisa Wylie.

Malcolm loved smorgasbord buffets, hiking, traveling, enjoying the woods and hunting during deer season. If he wasn’t reading or viewing a movie during his free time, he was scouring local yard sales. His favorite beverage was milk, and his favorite flavor ice cream was vanilla.

Up to age 88, he hiked weekly – leading 5-mile hikes at Ridley Creek State Park every Tuesday and delighted his Chester County Trail Club friends with his many jokes and banter.He won the club’s Trail Master Award for hiking the most miles in a year – 7 consecutive timesfrom 1999-2007!

A member for 32 years, (he hiked a total of nearly 217 thousand miles – 5th overall in the current club), contributions in Malcolm’s memory may be made to the Chester County Trail Club, PO Box 2056, West Chester, PA 19380.

Relatives and friends are invited to his service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1141 West Chester Pike, Havertown, PA 19083 at 10 am on Friday, January 17, 2025, immediately followed by alight fare reception in the church Social Hall. Internment at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
