Marie Effie Famous

Marie Effie Famous, Age 100, of S.W. Philadelphia passed away on
August 1, 2024. For the past five years, Marie had been living at The
Mansion at Rosemont, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She was born July
25, 1924 in Philadelphia.
Marie worked for 38 years before retiring from Bell Telephone in
Philadelphia. She was an active and faithful member of
Southwestern Presbyterian Church until she moved to Rosemont
apartments in October of 2019. She is proud of her Lenape Indian
heritage. She loved the Phillies and cheering them on from home.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, William and Effie Famous,
and her sister, Marjorie Christiansen. She is survived by her nephew,
Eric Christiansen and his wife Diane, a great niece (Colleen Brower)
and great nephew (Curt Christiansen) and her dear friend and
caregiver, Dottie Polsz.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Rosemont and
Holisticare Hospice for the exceptional care given to Marie these past
few months. We are forever grateful for all the love and support.
A memorial service for Marie and several other Rosemont residents
who have passed recently will be held on August 13, 2024. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to The Mansion at Rosemont or
Holisticare Hospice.
