On April 19, 2025, MARY ANN BANNON (nee Moyer) born in Schukylkill Haven, PA and raised in Newtown Square, PA, where she met her high school sweetheart, Jim. Driven by a deep desire to help others, Mary Ann earned her degree in Elementary and Special Education from West Chester University. She began her career as a counselor at Camp Beehive, where she spent four years supporting children with special needs in a summer program. After marrying Jim, she transitioned to a role as a house parent, caring for four special needs children in a community living arrangement, where she taught life skills, provided personal care, and attended to their nutritional needs. Later in life, Mary Ann pursued a nursing degree, graduating with a BSN from Neumann College. She went on to work in various clinical settings, eventually combining her passion for special needs care and nursing in her dedicated work at Melmark and Elwyn, where she spent many years making a difference in the lives of those she cared for.
Family meant everything to Mary Ann, and one of her greatest joys was being a devoted wife and mother. She dedicated her life to ensuring her loved ones felt cherished and cared for in every possible way. Her generous spirit shone brightly at every special occasion, where she delighted in finding the perfect gift for each person-including her beloved ‘furbaby’ grandkids. Mary Ann’s warmth and care radiated to all who knew her, as she joyfully planned, organized, and hosted memorable gatherings, bringing everyone together to create lasting moments of joy.
Mary Ann had a deep love for travel, often exploring the cultural, historical, and culinary treasures of the world alongside her husband, daughters, and friends. Among her favorite destinations were London, Ireland, Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Munich, the Bahamas, and Bermuda. A devoted theatergoer, she cherished attending performances in Philadelphia, New York, and London. Mary Ann was also a passionate Phillies fan, rarely missing a game– each one a heartfelt reminder of her beloved late father, Wilson Moyer. She found peace and joy at the beach in Stone Harbor, where she loved to read, listen to the ocean, bask in the sun, and enjoy the soft, salty breeze.
Mary Ann courageously dealt with significant health challenges throughout her life, meeting each one with remarkable strength, grace, and unwavering determination. Despite her own struggles, she always prioritized the well-being of others-whether by checking in on a dear friend, inviting her daughter to dinner just to share a hug, or directing generous donations to causes close to her heart.
Mary Ann is the beloved wife of James A Bannon, Loving mother of Lauren and Beth Bannon, dear sister to Jeffrey Moyer and his wife Anne Marie and the late Linda Davis. Also lovingly survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
