On Monday, January 16, after a brief illness, Mary Marilyn Culloty passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was ninety-two. Born to William and Josephine Garrity, Mary grew up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts with her older brother, Billy. She attended The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York, where she was recruited by and began working for the United States government after graduation.
Mary met and married John Culloty while working in Frankfurt, Germany. She was a devoted wife to John for sixty-six years. Together, they had five sons, thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Most recently, Mary resided with her husband at Rose Tree Place Assisted Living in Media, PA.
A chocolate chip cookie aficionado, Mary never met a chip she didn’t love. She was also a diehard UNC Tarheels men’s basketball fan. Along with her family, Mary’s Catholic faith was an essential part of her life and legacy.
Mary is predeceased by her parents and brother. She is survived by her husband, John, and her five sons: Sean (Elaine), Kevin, Brian (Cheryl), Michael (Angela), and Patrick as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Church of Saint Joseph 3255 Concord Rd, Aston, PA 19014. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
