Maryanne Gallagher Bell

BellMaryanne Gallagher Bell was born on February 20, 1938, and died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on April 27, 2018.She was the beloved wife of Brigadier General Randall William Bell (Ret.), MD. Maryanne grew up in Philadelphia, PA and Longport, NJ. She attended Notre Dame Academy in Rittenhouse Square and Immaculata College. Maryanne was extremely active in her children’s schools: Malvern Prep, Villa Maria Academy, Notre Dame Academy, and Merion Mercy Academy. She volunteered for numerous charities and organizations such as St. Edmunds Home for Children and The Pink Nuns. She married Randy in 1990 and together they traveled to over 20 countries. Maryanne supported Randy in a multi-decade career at Main Line Eyecare where she was the beautiful face of the practice. Maryanne and Randy retired to Naples, FL and Rehoboth Beach, DE where they spent their time playing tennis and golf.Maryanne was predeceased by her brother Garrett Golden Gallagher, her father Joseph Charles Gallagher, mother Mary Jane Gallagher, and brother in-law Charles Reilly. She is survived by her loving husband Brigadier General Randall William Bell (Ret.), MD, her children; Maryanne, Carol, Richard, Sheila, and Patrick, three sisters; Jane G. Goggin, Bernadine G. Reilly, and Eileen G. Konecke, one brother; Joseph C. Gallagher, thirteen grandchildren, five stepchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.Maryanne loved tennis, her family home in Longport, and all things military, specifically West Point – Randy’s Alma Mater, where she attended many social events and football games. She lived life to the fullest living by the mantra “Live, Love, Laugh”. Maryanne will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, and matriarch of the Gallagher family, but most of all she will be remembered as G.G. (Gorgeous Grandmother) to her 13 grandchildren.Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Tuesday, May 8th from 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. at St. Katherine of Siena Church, Wayne, PA.
