LONG
Monica (nee Carey) age 62, passed away December 13, 2024 of Wallingford, PA formerly of Ridley Park, PA and Swarthmore, PA.
Monica grew up with her 5 brothers and 1 sister and enjoyed playing sports as a child, including her favorite, softball. She graduated from Ridley High School and then devoted over 20 years to Array Appliance Center where she worked alongside her mother as the business’s Office Manager. She was an avid sports fan and particularly loved the Eagles and Phillies. She enjoyed Christmas more than most, especially a snowy one, and did whatever she could to make the day special for the ones she loved. She enjoyed traveling with her sister and getting to the beach any chance that she got. She enjoyed sunsets but could not seem to wake up early enough for the sunrises. She was overjoyed anytime she got a ‘deal’ at a yard sale or flea market and getting up early on Saturday’s to do so became a favorite pastime of hers. She loved her Jack Russells as much as anyone possibly could and they were the magic that would brighten her days time and time again. Later in life, she and Jim were inseparable and she was truly grateful for all the time that the two of them had together. Monica enjoyed being a mom more than anything else in her life and she was able to further that joy with the recent addition of her two grandchildren who she adored dearly.
Predeceased by her mother, Elouise Carey (nee Barrett), her brothers Kevin, Jack, and Steven, as well as her son, Michael Long.
Survived by her partner of over 20 years, James Rowland, her siblings Kathy, Lenny & Neal (Tara), her former spouse, Mark Long, and her children Matthew (Jenny), Megan and Melanie.
