Nicholas J. Teta, 92, of Glen Mills, Pa passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023 in Paoli Hospital. Born to James and Felicella Maiorano Teta in Darby, Pennsylvania, he resided in Glen Mills for he past 57 years. He graduated from West Catholic in 1949 and entered the Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. It was in the Air Force that he gained specialized electronic experience assigned to the 509 Bomb Wing part of the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. While assigned to Walker Air Force base in Roswell, New Mexico, he met the love of his life, Ruby Baca Brady and married in 1954.His experience in the Air Force led to a long career as Test Director with GE Aerospace working on projects specializing in re-entry vehicles. Projects included such ICBMs as the Atlas, the Titan, Minuteman I, Minuteman II and Polaris which were classified at the time. He also worked on civilian programs such as Venus and the Galileo, an American space program to study Jupiter, a forerunner of the Hubble. He retired in 1990. During retirement he treasured time with his family, especially holiday celebrations. His warmth, generosity and gentle spirit leave an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him. He was loved immeasurably and will be missed immensely.The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his doctors, nurses, aides, friends, and neighbors for the care and comfort they afforded Nick and family over the past year, especially the Paoli Hospital Palliative Team.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Ruby Brady, parents and younger brothers, James and Ralph. He is survived by his son, Nicholas C., Sr. (Rosemarie), grandchildren, Monica (John Bissett) Teta-Bissett, Laura (Vincent, Sr.) Cecconi and Nicholas C. Teta, Jr. Great-grandchildren, Fiona, Johnny and Audrey Bissett and Vincent, Jr. and Maria Rose Cecconi.Friends and family are invited to a Visitation Saturday Morning, April 15th at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, Pa. from 9:00am to 10:00, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:15am. Interment will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or Camilla Hall.
