Nicholas Robert Finelli Sr.

Nicholas Robert Finelli, Sr. passed away on April 13, 2025 two months shy of his 96th birthday. He had been under Hospice Care at Bryn Mawr Hospital after being a resident at Sunrise Assisted Living in Newtown Square, PA. He also lived in Havertown, Lansdowne and Newtown Square. He was born on June 12,1929 in the Overbrook section of West Philadelphia to the late Stephen Finelli and Henrietta Bertucci. Predeceased by his wife Carolyn (nee Heether) and his brother Dominic Chiango. Nick is survived by his former wife, Josephine Finelli (nee Ciccotello), his children Nicholas, Jr. (Mary) and Barbara Passanisi (Joseph). He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Nick attended Overbrook High School and then served in the U.S. Air Force in Munich, Germany during the Korean War. He returned to the U.S. and was honorably discharged in 1958. Most of his career was spent in the retail industry. He first owned a children’s clothing store in Philadelphia and then held various positions with Lit Brothers and Gimbels as an assistant buyer, buyer and store manager. After retiring from retail, he worked part time for Fox and Lazo as a real estate agent. He was part of the original Board of Governors of the Drexel Swim Club in Lawrence Park and served as its first president. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday, April 26th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St.John Neumann Parish, 380 Highland Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA followed by Funeral Mass. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery 2900 State Road Drexel Hill, PA.
