1934-2022

Paul Lawrence Sweeney of Prospect Park, Pa passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the age of 88. Paul died peacefully at his residence surrounded by love.

Born in Havertown on June 29,1934 to the late Ellen Fox and Joseph Sweeney, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Paul was the recipient of the following medals: Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service, Korean Service and United Nations Service. Additionally, he earned the prestigious Expert Rifle Badge.

After his years of service, Paul entered the roofing trade where he enjoyed working alongside his dear brother, Tony. In retirement, Paul took pride in meticulously landscaping his home and those of family members living nearby. He treasured the time he spent helping his grandson Edward with his construction business at Hughes Home Improvement.

Paul lived a very fulfilled and healthy life. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and love of his family, along with his dedication to his sweetheart and wife of 51 years.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents (Ellen and Joseph), his siblings (Joseph, Helen, Daniel, MaryJane, Teresa, Anthony, and Frances), his 3 grandsons (Carmen Jr, David, and Edward).

He is survived by his beloved Wife Yolanda Sweeney; Children John Capriotti, Joyce Iman, June Phillips, Jayne Hughes, and Jeanine Kushla; Grandchildren Anthony, Jodi, Joyce, Andrea, Michael, Jarrod, John Paul and Zyriah; Great-grandchildren Aubrey, David, Gabrielle, Francis, John, Joseph, Connor, Justin, Grace, Molly, Carmen, MacKenzie, Francesca, and Jaymin; Great-great grandchildren Katon and Rosalia; Nieces and Nephew Theresa, Kimberly, and John.

Respecting his wishes for privacy, a burial with military funeral honors will be held at Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pa for immediate family members.
