SNYDER, SR. Robert Andrew Sr., on Sept. 30, 2013 age 78 of Havertown, formerly of Phila. Robert was a retired Phila. Police Officer for 34 years 24 of those years was spent in the homicide division. His work was featured in the book The Murder Room. Robert also worked in the Office of the Inspector general. A self taught artist his sketches were used for court cases as crime scene photos, involved in many high profile cases. On Sept. 23, 1993 he was the 1st recipient of the VIDOCQ Society Medal. An avid Phillies fan, singer, enjoyed his time at Bear Creek in the Poconos. He enjoyed spending his time with his family. Survivors: Loving husband of Helen V. (nee French), devoted father of Robert Jr. (Irene), Mark (Pamella), Missy (Peter) Taggart, Paul, Patricia (Moses) Farhat, Stephen (Mary), David (Deborah), Maureen (Daniel) Grosser, Andrew (Dawn), Bernadette (Bob) Bartholomew, Susan (Kiyoumars) Fard, John (Donna), Dorothy (Karen Mellon), and Catherine (Angel) Rojas, 36 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, and his sister Joan (Joe) Schnatterer. I also was a Philadelphia Police Officer and Bob was a class mate at West Catholic High School class of 1953. Over the years on the job I often ran into Bob and it was a great pleasure every time we met as Bob always had great stories. Bob was a true gentleman and I will miss him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. All of his children are a great tribute to his life. Life goes on but memories can be a comfort.

Bob was one if the finest men I have every had the privilege to work with in the Police Department (Homicide Unit). He will be missed by all who has ever met him.He was a gentle man in a rough world.

We loved the special times we spent with the family and will miss him greatly. Our prayers go out to Helen and the family, especially Bern, Bob, and the girls! Love you all!
