Roberta Carol Smith (neé Rensch) of Aston formerly of Newtown Square and Media, passed on August 1, 2025 in her home at the age of ninety-seven. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Hadden Smith. Lovingly called Bobbie, she is survived by her sons Hadden (Janice) and Warren (Brenda), as well as her daughter-in-law Lois. She had eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Bobbie was predeceased by her son Kevin, her brother Calvin Rensch, and her sister Dorothy Johnson.
Bobbie devoted her life to caring for others and lived to serve her Lord. She was an active and life-long member of Crossroads Community Church (formerly J. R. Miller Memorial Presbyterian Church) in Upper Darby, PA. Bobbie was a devoted Sunday School teacher to the children of Crossroads for many decades, faithfully participated in the evangelistic outreach program, led a women’s bible study at George W. Hill Correctional Facility (formerly Delaware County Prison), and was also an active member of Women’s Auxiliary of The Gideons International. Her heart’s desire was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In 1964, Bobbie and Hadden (with their sons) launched a recreational vehicle sales and service business which served the Tristate area for over 58 years. This partnered well with her passion for worldwide travel.
Bobbie was an accomplished seamstress and loved to spend time with her family, read, complete jigsaw puzzles, bird watch and cater to a variety of plants. She also loved taking care of her beloved bird, Lucy.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bobbie’s life at her memorial service on Saturday, August 16th at 11:00 AM with visitation with the family at 10:00 AM at Crossroads Community Church, 104 Heather Road, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Inurnment private.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate gifts in remembrance of Bobbie sent to the Missions Fund at Crossroads Community Church.
