Sr. Eileen Trinity RSM

Sister Eileen Trinity, RSM, age 95, a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, died peacefully on March 27, 2025, at McAuley Convent, Merion, PA

The Trinity family welcomed “precious” Eileen into their family on February 11, 1930. Eileen was dearly loved by her parents, John and Mary, and her four siblings. She attended Resurrection of Our Lord Elementary School in Philadelphia and graduated from the Academy of the Sisters of Mercy High School in Gwynedd Valley in 1948. On September 12, 1948, Eileen entered the Mater Misericordia Convent, joining her sister, Mary, who was known in religion as Sister Mary Mercita. Eileen received the religious name of Sister Joseph Mary and was steeped in the love of Jesus and Mary. She lived an exemplary life as a Sister of Mercy for 76 years.

Eileen dedicated over six decades to serving children in elementary education as a teacher and as a principal in schools and parishes across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Florida. Throughout her lifetime, Eileen’s kindness, compassion, generosity, and sense of humor made her a source of serenity, peace, and joy for her sisters in community and her family members. Eileen’s final years at McAuley Convent, spent in the ministry of prayer and presence, were marked by the same characteristics: good humor, prayerfulness, kindness, and love. We rejoice and give thanks to God for the legacy of goodness and grace of Eileen’s life. Rest now in peace, faithful friend of God!
