Stella Novak

Stella Novak, daughter of Theodore and Cecila “Emily” Novak, passed away on Saturday October 29th at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.She was with those she loved and who loved her. She is survived by her brother Ted Novak, nephew Keith Novak and his wife Amy, great niece and nephew Madeline and Teddy as well as nephew Scott Novak, great nephews Scott, Luke and Cole and cousin Frank and Nancy Novak. Stella, who never married, was a treasured member of her Aunt Irene Ambrose’s family, and cousins to Joe (Deceased) & Lillian, Mike & Debbie, Frank & Marge, Renie & Chuck and Tom & Carolyn as well as their children. Born in Philadelphia on December 23rd, 1939, she attended John W Hallahan High School receiving a student athlete award at graduation. Stella lived most of her adult life in Southern NJ and built a successful career in the banking industry, finally retiring from PNC Bank in 2015. Stella was a sister, aunt, cousin, and in recent years, stand-in grandmother to many. She had a love of people of all ages and from all walks of life. In return, those people also loved her. We had trouble keeping track of all of her friends since she had them everywhere. She was frequently out and about with her core group of best girl friends celebrating milestones or just plain enjoying each other’s company. Stella enjoyed being active whether it was day-tripping to spend a day on the beach reading a book or seeing a show. Although she loved her chocolate and a nice glass of wine, she had to limit those indulgences in recent years due to a progressing heart condition. Still, she was seen enjoying the company at Heritage Winery on a summer Thursday night! She had a knack for having a birthday card delivered on the exact day and could prank, joke and tease with the best of them. Stella was an amazing, empathetic but honest listener. She will leave an empty space in many hearts. Friends and family are invited to a Visitation at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday November 5th at Our Lady of Fatima (1 Fatima Drive Secane, Pa. 19108). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her nephew Teddy Novak’s name to the American Cancer Society at PO Box 897, Hershey Pa. 17033.
