FERTMAN
Stuart Alan Fertman, 77, of Lansdowne, PA, passed peacefully in his home on July 6, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Alda Fertman, and his two children, Jared Fertman (Sara) and Brittany Sanford (Brian). He also leaves behind six grandchildren who adored their Grandpa tremendously: Bennett, Maxon, Gavin, Cabrey, Dylan, and Devyn; and the animals he treated like humans: pups Turbo and Remi, and his beloved bird, Blue.
Stuart was born in Norwich, CT to the late Kay (nee Rose) and Benjamin Fertman. He was the eldest of three boys, followed by his predeceased brother, Chuck (Nancy), and his youngest brother, David (Deborah). Other cherished extended family members include Joanne Smith and the late Susan Bruzzese (Jim).
Stuart was an artist from his early years. After studying at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Stuart went on to become a respected jeweler in the Philadelphia area for over 40 years. It was during this time that he met and fell in love with his beloved wife, Alda. He designed hundreds of pieces, the most prized being those worn by family and friends. Once he retired from the jewelry industry, Stuart poured his creative energy into making one-of-a-kind pottery pieces, many of which he struggled to part with, in hopes of one day publicly showcasing his collection. It was a dream of his for years, and something his family lovingly joked about over many meals.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Stuart loved playing and watching golf, evenings around the poker table with friends, finding the biggest lobster in the tank, and traveling to far-flung destinations to fish with his son. He also was an avid collector of many things including antique coins, precious metals, and unique vintage pieces (including his antique Triumph).
