ORIOThomas Anthony Orio, Sr., age 92, of Eddystone on April 5, 2017. Born in Chester PA in 1925, Tom was destined to become one of a handful of people attached to the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles” during WWII. He also saw action at the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Penn Ship in Chester and the Reynolds Metal Co.Tom was also very much in touch with his community and church, and took great pride in his civic duty. He spent 40 years on Eddystone Borough Council starting out as Police Commissioner and ending with his retirement as Council President. Along the way, he was involved with coaching several local teams and was involvement in the local VFW Post 7949 and the American Legion. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at his home parish. His most enjoyable time was spent with the love of his life, Fran, and their time in Ocean City, NJ strolling the board walk or on the beach with family. He was an avid Phillies fan and almost never missed a game. Beloved husband of the late Frances (nee Sides) and loving father of Thomas Anthony Jr., (Gail), Karen Jolly (Dan). He is survived by his brother, Maurice “Spokey” and his sister, Angelina “Jenny” Orio. Also survived by his adoring grandchildren; Robert (Tara), Richard (Julie), Thomas A. III (Courtney), Daniel IV (Cristina), Brett and Kevin Jolly, Lisa Ferri (Ron) and his great-grandchildren; Luke, Ben, Harrison, Jack, Charlie, Lili, Ronnie, Max, Will, and Holden. He was predeceased by brothers, Vincent “Jimmy”, Victor “Mickey”, and sister, Ruth McCracken. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Sunday evening, 6-8 PM at the Danjolell-Barone Memorial Home, 908 St. Providence Rd., Wallingford, PA 19086 and on Monday morning, 9-9:45 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, Chester Pike at Simpson St., Eddystone, PA 19022. Funeral Mass 10 AM. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery, Ridley Twp. PA.
