KELL
VALDORA P. (nee Palena), age 82, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023.
Known to friends as Val to family as “Valli.” Devoted daughter to the late Alphonso and Valdora B. Palena, and devoted mother to daughter Elizabeth. Loving sister to her brothers Raymond Palena (Diane) and Laurence Palena, and the late Louis Palena (Margaret Rhodes). Adoring aunt to Lisa, Raymond, Michael, Emily and Gregory.
Valli cherished her childhood growing up in South Philadelphia with her large extended Italian family and spoke fondly and in great detail of the time she spent with her grandmothers, aunts, uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles and dozens of first and second cousins, whether shopping on 9th street, going to the movies with her grandmother, or enjoying one of many family holiday traditions. A 1957 West Catholic High School graduate, Val worked as a bank teller where she met her late former spouse, Clement W. Kell Jr. of Ridley Park. A longtime resident of Delaware County in adulthood (Havertown, Springfield, Upper Darby and Secane), she worked as a bookkeeper for various law and real estate firms. Proud of her Italian heritage, Valli devoted her life in service of her family, always encouraging and going above and beyond to support her daughter, Elizabeth, as well as her nieces and nephews in the exploration and pursuit of their gifts and dreams whether they be academic or artistic, athletic or other interests such as travel. Beyond her family, Val was an ardent supporter of women’s rights and proud member of the League of Women Voters. She loved movies, television, Star Trek, was an avid reader, supporter of the arts, enjoyed travel, and was a lifelong Phillies fan and a passionate tennis fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Saturday, June 24th 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM followed by her Life Celebration 12 NOON in the Main Chapel at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008 in celebration of her life. Inurnment will be private.
