Dear Peggy, We were shocked and saddened to hear of Vince's illness and passing. I had no idea, but that was apparently what he wanted. His many contributions to aging research, the Gerontological Society of America, and his many other affiliations, are his legacy and he will not be forgotten. He will, however, be greatly missed. While I didn't have as much contact with him lately as in the past, I did enjoy very much our conversations at an aging conference in Italy a year or so ago. It was rare that I spoke with him outside of GSA and free of GSA duties and I really enjoyed it. Of course, stories over the years about the biology "Philadelphia Mafia" were always fun. I was also happy to hear that he was able to get to the boat recently. On behalf of the officers, members and staff of GSA, I extend our sincere sympathies to you and your family. It is a great loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Cookie Schutz Executive Director The Gerontological Society of America
