William “Bill” E. Santarlasci Jr., 81, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on October 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 10, 1943, in Philadelphia, Bill grew up in Southwest Philadelphia before moving to Clifton Heights in 1967 and later to Drexel Hill in 1993.
A proud graduate of West Catholic Boys High School, Class of 1960, Bill served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard for 21 years. He dedicated 40 years of his career as a forklift driver at Acme Warehouse in Overbrook, before joining D’Anjolell Memorial Home in 1980, where he served as a funeral assistant for 42 years. Bill became a cherished figure at the front door during evening viewings, offering comfort and support to families during their difficult times.
Bill shared a deep bond with his wife, Ginny (nee Sanitate), with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage. Together, they cherished annual trips to Disney and enjoyed cruises to various destinations. Bill’s greatest joy came from his family, especially as he embraced the role of a devoted Pop Pop to his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, William Sr. and Helen (Sommers) Santarlasci, and his sister Helene Burns. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Geneva, their children Billy Santarlasci III (Nancy) and Annette Sullivan (Dan), his cherished grandchildren Danny Sullivan (Melizza), Billy IV and Marissa Santarlasci, as well as his sister Teresa Anastasia (Tom) and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
Bill will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, October 17 from 8:45 – 10:45 am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, where services will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 S. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
