William “Bill” Henry Smith III

SMITH III

William H., age 82, of Drexel Hill, PA passed away on October 23, 2022 surrounded by family.

Bill was born on March 14, 1940 to William H. II and Kathryn (Fowler) Smith of Philadelphia, PA. He attended John Bartram High School then went into the United States Air Force. Soon there after he met the love of his life, Ann “Pat” Patricia (O’Connell) Smith. Their family grew as they welcomed two sons and two daughters. They were happily married for over 50 years before her passing in 2012. Bill was an amazing, devoted husband, dad, PopPop, and great-grandfather.  He lived for those he loved. His family and friends were everything to him. His laughter filled the room and everyone loved listening to his stories. He will be deeply missed.

Bill was a hard-working man with an incredible work ethic. He retired from SEPTA in 2002 as a heavy equipment operator.

Predeceased by his parents, William H. Smith II and Kathryn (Fowler) Smith, his loving wife Ann “Pat” Patricia (O’Connell) Smith, his sisters Joyce (Smith) Murphy and Wilma (Smith) Rubillo.

Survived by his children, William H. IV (Patti), Michael J. (Gloria), Paula M. Bauer (Fred), and Patricia A. Fischer (Wayne). Along with his grandchildren, Matthew Fischer (Larissa), Amanda McDonald (Kevin), Joseph Fischer (Carrie), Lauren Bauer, Kevin Bauer, Jacqueline Smith, Shannon Walton (Carl Sr.), and Mark Spadaro (Shannon). In addition to his great-grandchildren, Kinley Fischer, Kaizley Fischer, Drew Bauer-Capizzi, Sgt. Carl Walton Jr. (Jenna), Dominique Walton, Hailey Spadaro, Emma Spadaro, and Salena Spadaro. Lastly, his great-great grandchildren, Abigail Walton and Desmond Walton.

Relatives & friends are invited to his Viewing Friday, October 28^th 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM followed by his Funeral Service 12:00 PM in the Main Chapel at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.  Interment at St. Dennis Cemetery in Havertown, PA.
